Behind Every Plate — The Aboki Grill Kitchen
We're a ghost kitchen by choice. No dining room, no walk-in tables, no service team — every dollar goes into ingredients, prep, and the cook.
Our small team works out of 1205 E Hastings, anchored by a contract chef who runs a tight FIFO inventory and finishes every order in the same window: 20 to 30 minutes from confirmation. Suya is grilled to order. Soups are batched daily and portioned into 709ml, 1.4L, and 2.1L containers so the food keeps its character whether you're eating tonight or freezing it for next week.
The recipes come from our grandmothers. The methods come from working professional kitchens. We treat both with respect.

Aboki Grill started in a small Vancouver kitchen with a single question: why is it so hard to find real Nigerian food on this side of the world? Faith and Vanye Wadawasina built it as the answer. Both rooted in Adamawa State in Nigeria's North East, they grew up around the food that now anchors the menu — suya pulled hot off the grill at sunset, egusi simmered all afternoon, jollof made the right way, with attention. When they couldn't find it in Vancouver, they brought it. The first dish out of the kitchen was a plate of jollof rice. Today it's served to families across the Lower Mainland — through delivery, weekly meal plans, and the bulk soup containers people order to stock the fridge.
